"DAZZLE" WAISTCOATS.
AND "PIED PIPEE" PYJAMAS.
The reaction from khaki which showed itself so markedly during the* summer is even more 6tartingly illustrated in the colours and designs ° of men's winter apparel now being shown in tho outfitting shops <of tho West End (says tho London "i)aily News"). Extremely riotous colours and luridly weird designs—among thom Futurist, Cubist, Oriental, nnd Jazz —seem to be tho vogue. "Tho fact i 3,'' said one outfitter, "we cannot got colours noisy enough to meet tho demands of tho men who have been clothed in drab khaki during the past four or five years. The livelier the colour and tho louder tho design tho quicker tho salo. Our men have eomo back to civil life with less sensitiveness to tho old conventions in dress, and with a determination to please themselves what they wear. And they are simply colour mad." Very few of tho older and more subdued colours are shown. Among cardigans ono noticed many in canary and other bright shades of yellow. Loud checks and stripes in waistcoats are common, and ono striking design is a bright red waistcoat with front panels of red, white, and black squares, and socks in similar colours to match. In pyjamas the colours are even nioro variea, and in greater demand than similar creations attempted about '20 years ago. These garments in silk inclutie: Black, with cerise collars and cuffs and white waLst banrl. Cream, with cerise collars and cuffs. Cerise with cream collars and cuffs. Bright yellow, with black collars and cuffs. All yellow, or all pink, with white waist "bands. Cambridge blue, with white waist band. Pink, with white collars and cuffs. Socks and tics vie with each other for the greatest colour effect. The latter include, besides a very wide range of regimental and Paisley designs, fantastic colour combinations rarely seen outside tho tropics or a Futurist exhibition. In dressing-gou ns, one of the loudest effects is n silk garment in what is known as a Bagdad design brown, green, purple, and blue on a silver background. Tho same design is shown in imitation silk scarves (made t'rom wood puh>.) and in pocket handkerchiefs. Men's boots and ''hoes of grey sued© in imitative crocodile design are to be seen in some shops, and nit-hough there are a few striking colours in winter shirts, s-ome great "creations are pronii-ed for next spring, including a multi-check plaid in grey, black and white, blue nnd white, or hehotropo and white. "The most interesting fning about these fruity colour effects." said an^ outfitter, "k their British origin. They ate not bought merely by the old-time 'knuts,' but by a much wider circle of
