JEWEL ROBBERIES.
+ THE WAB AND CRIME. (By Cable.—Prci Ae»ociatio-.--Copyright.) (Unitod Scrrioc.) LONDON. December 31. The frequency of jewel robberies attended by violence is scaring wealthy residents in tho West End, and suggesting the necessity for carrying arms. The "Daily Mail" reports that an eminent nerve specialist, discussing the crimes, states that the war has created many thousands of neurotics, but a far more dangerous type is to be seen in the men tainted with mania before war, who nevertheless mado excellent soldiers. A third type represents sufferers from emotional strain, intruding men who fought, though not believing that the war was necessary. Tho common theory rogarding tho influence of shell shock on crime was largely exaggerated.
