DUNEDIN, February 2 The situation regarding tho floods is more hopeful, though the Railway Department probably will bo unab'le to resume the running of the southern trains beyond Allanton to-morrow Accounts from Central Otago are cheering. Alexandra reports that notwithstanding the heavy rain the river Molyneux is falling. Cromwell reports that a spell of settled weather is at hand, and tho rivers are falling steadily from tho rocent high flood level. As a result of the week's floods, Kaitangata, Waranui, Taratu, and Nightcaps coal supplies aro cut off so "far as tho city is concerned.
