The Rook was ' quickly into his stride, in the Amateur Handicap, x and led t the field for a mile, where the favourite, Golden Age, ranged up alongside him. These two drew right away ■ from the ! rest of the field. The itook stayed better, ! than Golden Age and won nicely by four I ; lengths. To-night was a poor third. j Guynemer was made a warm favourite in the Telegraph Handicap, but although he occupied a good position throughout tile race :ho was well beaten into third place at tho i finish. Matty's Boy made the most of his .' handicap, and,- pacing strongly, won easing ' up. Star Queen had to be ridden right out; ito finish in second place. Gladiola made no ' ; showing at all, while Jack Arrah, a winner on the previous day, finished fourth.
