THE SETON TRAGEDY.

f MRS RUTHERFORD'S LETTERS. (By Association.—Copyright.) LONDON, January 29. In connexion with the Seton case, it is stated that Mrs Rutherford wrote to her hucband in July, 1918-: "Have you ever known me refuse forgiveness? Only come back to me. My love for you is the most vital part of my life." * In four later lotters she complained that her husband was guilty of frequent illusage, awful temper, deception, and' unfaithfulness, adding: "I have been through Hell. Other men have never been more than an episode in my life; you are my life itself." Mr Bodkin, K.C., commented-that the letters were of a faithful character. This correspondence, in conjunction with Major Seton's visit might have given ) Lieut.-Colonel Rutherford a suspicion that his wife was unfaithful, resulting . in a fixed intention to kill a defenceless man.
