Mr Ernest MacMUlao, a young Canadian musician, who attracted, attention as a bov of remarkable musical talent while on a visit to Great Britain about 12 vears ago, was granted the degree of Mus. Doo at Oxford recently m absence, and under peculiar circumstances. In tho summer of 1914 MacSiillan who was studying in Paris, went with a friend to liayreuth. to hear the \S agner operas. When war broke out he was interned at B.uhlcben. and whde there occupied himself in writing his diploma for the Oxford degree. The German authorities permitted the despatch of the score of the work, which is desenboi as accomplished setting for voices and orchestra of Swinburne' 6 ''England.
