Marton and Bulls, in the Banptikei district, were both originally known under other names. Marton was first known as Tutaenui, but was subsequently rc-named Martou, after u he birthplace, of Captain Cook.. Bulls was originally Kangitikei, but the, post.il authorities objected, and asked the people to give it a wore distinctive name. They flatly refused, though a section of them wanted to name it Clifton. The Government then named the post office Bulls, in honour of its founder. James Bull, who is still onjoying life in England at the aga 01 84 years. ' . _
