FIRES
The Fire Brigade received a call at /i.46 a.m. yesterday to the five-storied warehouse of the X.Z, Supplies "Kxchange, Ltd., iu Poplar 6treet, off Lichfield street, owned by Mr H. L. The fire was found io have a good hold in the contro of the third floor, and it was probably.caused by tho action of ;i gas-heated sterilising machine. There was a heavy stock of spices and grccois" supplies, but the.brigade got to woric very promptly, with. the. rc«sub that the total damage to building and stores was , not. more than £200. The stock was insured for £4100 and tho building for £1000 in the Queensland office.
