MAGISTRATE'S COfftT. At the Lyttelton Magistrate's Court yesterday morning before Captain R. Hatchwell and Mr F. G. Norton, J.P.'s, William Lawson. Sharp was charged with committing a grossly indecent act on the' ferry wharf on Monday evening. Accused was con vie ted and sentenced to ono month's imprisonment. THE PICTURES. "The Han who Stayed at Home," a fin« war film, wag repeated at tbe Harbour Light Picture Theatre yesterday afternoon and evening before large audiences. The programmewill be changed for to-night only, when Ethel iiarryniore will appear in & screen version of tbe story "Egypt," entitled "Tbs Call of Her People." There will be another complete change of programme to-morrow, tho leading picture in which is entitled "Jules of the Strong Heart," « Paramount production starring George Beban. CHARTERIS BAY. Charterjs Bay has been a, little more lively than usual during the past few weeks, owing to a number of Linwood friends making their annual visit to that bay. Christmas time saw a row of tents being pitched on the side of the hill facing the sea, ancS this little spot presented a very busy" scene. Tho chief pastime was baOvin? and fishing. The more energetic camper* walked to Mount Herbert, the' and other beautiful spots, while the younger ones epont most of their time in. tho motor launch. IV>rhapa the most enjoyable afternoon wasr when Mr O. Bradley gave the residents and campers a garden party. Both Mr and thi Misse* Bradley did .all they possibly could to make even-one have an enjoyable time.. The children had a money hunt in a box of (and. while the older ones had a paroel hunt in a hedge. There were also one or two very amusing competitions. Afternoon tea wet served on the lawn, when Mr J. Tennent took the opportunity of thanking Mr Bradley for the enjoyable afternoon, and also thanked all the residents for their kindness to the campers. On two Saturday evenings a concert wns held in the school, when items were •riven 'oy Mesdames Tennent, Hay, Strange, Hunter. Henderson, and Rutland, Messrs Tennent. Hannah. Hunter, Rutland, and McKay, and the Mioses Tennent (2), Hunter (•}), Hay, Oldridjr? <2\. H»n-nb. «nd Rutland <2). The campers have row returned to town, with the intention of itking up tbe same camping ground again next year.
