CASUALTIES.
(PIIESS ASSOCIATION - TELEGRAJIS.) DARGAYILLE, Jauuarv 23. An elderly man named Patrick. Mahoney, formerly residing at Naumai was burnt to death last night. He was last seen alive the previous evening. This morning his cottage was discovered on fire, and the burnt body was found among the debris. It is believed that one of his relatives reside in Christchurch. BLENHEIM, January 2S William Cleator, aged sixteen when bathing in the Opawa river, suddenly disappeared. The body has not been recovered. WELLINGTON, Januarv 28 At the inquest touching the* death of the youth Stanley Godfrey, a verdict of accidentally killed through a r, u n shot wound was returned. Evidence was given to the effect that. deceased had been oat rabbit shooting with his brother and a friend, and a defective £on went off accidentally.
