NEW ZEALAND AND FRANCE.
SUGGESTED RECIPROCAL
MISSION
One of the results of the visit of the Frcnch Mission to the Dominion has been to raise tho question of the desirableness of despatching a New Zealand Mission, similar in character, not diily to those countries with which the Dominion has trade relations, but to others where such rolations could ho established. Tho matter, it is under; stood, has not escaped the attention of public men in tho Dominion, and it is considered that a Mission, composed on linos similar to the French Mission, would be effective in extending the trade of the Dominion.
It is suggested that the Now Zealand Mission should bo composed chiofly of practical men, and that, as was the case with the French Mission, the purely official clement should not bo too prominent. There is much valuablo information concerning the disposal of the Dominion's products that such a commission could obtain, even in countries that deal in the same kind of products. It appears that tho French Mission anticipate, as tho result of their visit to Iho Dominion, a greater opening for French goods in New Zealand than for New Zealand goods in France, although, as regards wool, France will be a bis customer of the Dominion.
