PEACE CELEBRATIONS

LOCAL ARRANGEMENTS

Initial steps regarding the celebration of Peace Day were taken in hand by the City Council last evening.

A letter was received from the Hon. G. W. Russell announcing that the Government had decided that oath local body should have full liberty to make its own arrangements regarding peace celebrations. An indication would, however, be given in duo course of the form of ccJobrations which would be adopted by the Government. Upon the motion of Cr. Williams, the Works and Electricity Committees wore instructed to renort to the next meeting of the Council upon arrangements for celebrating peace.
