A South "YVairarapa deputation waited upon Sir Jaiues Allen to-day and requested that the venereal disease cases bo removed from Featherston Camp, i'liey suggested that Kapiti Island migut be used. Tne Minister said the authorities had had difficulty in dealing with these men, but he did not think the idea of securing Kapiti Island was possible. In any case the whole thing would be over in the course of not many months. He hoped that tho troops would all be back in nine months. The venereal cases coming back now were comparatively few. 3lost> of those who were now at featherston were in the convalescent stage, and the place ought to be clcarod altogether m the course of a year. He appealed to I the people of tho Wairarapa to. put up j with the arrangement.
