At the outbreak of the war, the Royal Flying Corps and Nayal Air Service -comprised 285 officers and 2853 other ranks. When hostilities ceased there were 30.000 officers, including 10,000 pilots,, and 264,000 • other ranks including 21,000 flying cadets. At the outbreak of the' war there were 166 aeroplanes, 45 seaplanes, and seven airships, and at the close 21 . aeroplanes 1300 seaplanes and .'lO3 airships, also 2500 aeroplanes and' 55,000 engines on order. !
