» A SCHEME FOR IMPROVEMENT. (By, Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Gamble Association.) LONDON, January 22. The "Daily Chronicle" announces that the War Office is preparing a scheme far the improvement, of th? pay, food, upkeep., and clothing of the regular -army. The War Office, in a communique, points out that although a prompt settlement of these matters is possible, the newspaper statements only foster extravagant expectations among the troops. Important decisions of policy are necessary in connexion with the Army during the occupation of Germany.
