The Paris correspondent of the "New York Evening Sun" suggests that the Pacific Islands. should .bo divided between Australia and Japan. . - There are indications that Mr Lloyd George is dissatisfied with Mr . Hughes's interviews concerning tho Islands. Tho. Paris correspondent of the' Standard" says it is incorrect to suppose that President Wilson wants tie German Colonies restored. He believes that their neighbours should decide the question. HugheS"and Mr Massey attended tite Peace Conference, and explained then _ demands regarding the German colonies. Mr Hughes denies the statement published in London that he advocated the allocation of the islands north of the •r-qnator to Japan. That was a matter for tho Conference to decide.. He strongly advocates tho allocation of te islands south of the Equator to Australia. On the " €r ' s believed that President Wilson is not entirely in. accord with colonial aspirations.
