NORTH BEACH GALA.
■ TO-DAY'S FUNCTION. There is always something very., fascinating about the. seaside; it phvays; attracts its ' bathers, and its daily visitors, liiit when gala time conies,' it always exccls itself in the v.ay of crowds. To-day a very large entertainment i 3 promised at North Brighton beach, whe-ra the annual gala will be held. The • Hon. G. TV. Russell will officially open the function, and during the afternoon there will be various sources of amusement for all who attsnd. A very big programme of boys', girls', and adults' races has bc-en arranged, a-nd ihcrc will also be a jsuiid-dc-signing comDeliiion, which (should attract a. large number of youthful competitors. ' The spprts prois a 11103'. comprehensive one, and includes events for married and sinyle.women, 'children, and returned' soldiers, while, lifeexhibitions will bo mafic a feature of the day. 'Two-thirds of the gala proceeds will bo devoted to the erection of a Psaco Memorial, in the form of a band rotunda and shelter sheds for the comfort of visitors, to North Beach, the remaining third of tha proceeds being to wipe of! the debt on the life-saving pavilion. .
