At the Conference of Federal and , State Ministers, Mr Watt stated that during the current -year the payments for" interest and sinking fund on war loans amounted to £13,030,000, while war pensions would absorb £5,000,000. The total loans to be redeemed within the next, ten years amounted to £200,000,000, added to which would be £190.000,000 of war loans' floated in Australia to be redeemed in the same period. Ho proposed that the States givo the Commonwealth full control of all State and local Government borrowings for tho three years ending 1921.
