The latest Treasury circular (says a London paper of December 4th) provides for the cessation of all overtime in government ofliers on January Ist. This order seriously affects the permanent staff, who in many cases have drawn as much in overtime as in salary, while to the lower paid clerks it means falling back to a wage which is less than a Metropolitan constable gets, and in many cases equal to that received by a street scavenger.
