BULGARIA'S COLLAPSE. GENERAL MILNE'S DESPATCH. (By Cable.—Press Association. —Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Awociation.) (Renter's Telegrams.) (Received January 23rd. 7.45 p.m.) LONDON, January 21. "Gazotto'' contains a despatch from General Milne describing the important part the British played in the offensive last September against tho Bulgarians between Lake Doiran and tho Vardar. The British fought sanguinary battbs on September 18th and 19th, suffering and inflicting severe losses in assaults on the dominating and elaborately fortified heights of P Ridge and tho Grand Couronne. These battles served thenobject, which -was to pin down tho Bulgarian reserves so they would not he available to oppose tho great FrancoSerbian attack which burst through and' led to tho utter defeat of the enemy. The despatch incidentally mentions that when news of tho armistico with Turkey was received, General Milne was actually on tho river Maritza, ready to occupy Adrianople, ' while tho First Hellenic Corps was echeloned between Kavalia and Drama, ready to participate in n general advance on Constantinople.
