COUNTY COUNCILS.
KOWAI. At the last meeting of the Koy.-ai County Council thero were present:—Messrs «. A. McLean (chairman), W. H. Hale, T. lietallick, J. D. Wyllie, J. Howe, and 1. Hanna. A petition wa* received from iiessra )h, L)» Neilson, H. H. McLean, H. H. Hcdler, and W. Townley, asking tho Council to undertake the clearing and deepening of the drain on the east side of Ktan*-OE s toad, the petitioners agreeing to pay the„ , coa , . , , work in proportion to the benefits derived by each. It was resolved that, owing to the Burvcyor'a time being fully occupied, the Council could not undertake the work. The Hastings Borough Council and the Napier Borough Council wrote regarding th Tecent influenza, epidemio. It decided to tako no action. , It was agreed to forward to Uie SeftonAshley Drainage Board the distpctenjpnee report on the blockage of Fox a Creeji. On tho surveyor's recommendation, H wm agreed to lower tho foundation of the vert at Collie's, on th© main road, and to replace the wooden top with concrete. , On the motion of the chairman, too cler* was instructed to write asking if th'e u would subsidise the cost ot uie r Memorial Chambers. , , A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mr ■and Mrs Weir, for granting tho mission to cart shingle from their prop y- , It was resolved to. add ten per cent, to all rates unpaid on February Ist. , .
