America's coloured soldiers resent the small "n" in "Negro." To be spoken of as Negroes, as we speak of Aryans, and so forth, they do not mind, though they prefer to he known as American Africans. Negro with a small "n" they say, is synonymous with the loathed "nigger" or "coon." In _ Europe we use the appellation in relation to colour as we say "whites" to describe Europeans. Montenegro is, of course, simply "black mountain." "Blanc e Negro 7 ' is a Spanish illustrated paper. But there is a dignity about Negro, and the "N" is of literary capital importance.
