CHEVIOT.
At the last mooting of the Cheviot County Council there wore present*—'Councillors T. G. Geo (chairman), T. Stevenson, C. Barnes, and J. H. L. Hiatt. Mr A. Boyle, president of tho Nitvy League, appealed for a donation towards the funds o! the League. Mr U. W. Forbes und Mr Soott waited on the Council in support of the appeuJ. It was resolved that a donation of (£SO be made. Mesdames A. \V. Rutherford, aenr., and A. W. Rutherford, juur., wrote, thanking? tho Council for its sympathy in their bereavements. Hr G illanders asked permission to remove a gate on the Hurunui road, which waa granted. . , , , Mr C. Mniwm called attention to the bad state of the Ethel ton road. It waa resolved to attend to it as soon as possible.
