WATER SUPPLY BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING. The last meeting of the 'Waimakariri-Aeh.-ley Water Supply Board was attended by Messrs Ryau (in the chair), Weyland, and Moderate. Leave of absence was granted Messrs Cooper and Brown. . The surveyor's report, which wa3 adopteH, stated that during the previous 28.days 'he daily average depth of water on sill of intake at Brown's Rock headworks had been oft 3in, and during the same period tue daily average depth of water passing the flume at block cutting .had been 2ft, giving a full supply io the district. There were no freshets in the river, which continued in a favourable p ceil ion. The headworks were in good order except the silt spits. The river was keeping away from the damaged timber groyne, and repairs would be put in hand at the earliest moment. The team was being employed under Ranger Ramsey carting materials for bridges and culverts, piping and filling in race on road at Cust, and carting materials for long concrete fluming in Springbank main race. The upper main race had been cleaned in several places by Ranger Morris without extra labour. A concrete pipe crossing had been placed on Povntz's road, and six chains of race made to divert waterrace from a stormwater channei. The race on road beyond Cust had been piped for 200 feet and lovelled, while a short piece of protective fence would be erected at tui early opportunity. The "fall" was improved throughout tho entire length, the remaining sides widened, and the timber fluming well banked up. The race now in good order. A long piece of steel-lined timber fluming at Springbank had decayed and was wasting water. It was being renewed in concrete, and was practically finished. An old decayed flume on the Rangiora back road had been replaced by pipes a stormwater channel. The work of renewing gate crossings into properties or. the OxfordRangiora road and bridges over the main race at Smith's, Fernside, and Catlierwood's was in hand. Mr C. B. Forbes wrote applying {or a supply of water for a ram. Granted. M r Graham wrote regarding ihe bridge and main race near his house.—Referred to tho surveyor. Mr R. Ward *** granted a few days' grace in connexion w *th the Board's decision regarding a supply of water to 39 acres outside tho district. Mr Nankeville interviewed the Board ,e----garding water from a flume getting on Io his land at Cust. and a b.ocked culvert on Tipping's road. It was agreed that steps bo taken to remedy Use faul^. Tho question °' inspecting the headwttrica was postponed till next meeting
