The American freight boat, Lake Erie, was sunk by collision in the Bris- • ;tol Channel. FRENCH STEAMER MINED. LONDON, January 17. Tiiß French steamer mined in the Straits of Messina has not been identified. She is supposed to be the Charrol. One huncfred and fifty peo- ' pie were saved and 500 drowned.
