William Cummins was charged that on January 17th he assaulted Charles Stuart by striking him on the face with his clenchcd list. • - ibub-Inspector Mullany stated that there had been some trouble between the accused and Stuart. Accuscd met him in the street and struck him. Cummins stated that he had been convalesing with Stuart in England. In spite of the fact that lie (Cummins) had aided him financially, ho had acted in a most disgraceful -manner towards a young woman with whom 110 had beau keeping company, and he struck him on tho day in question in revenge.
