ALLEGED ARSON.

♦ —:— MAN CHARGED AT DARFIELD. On Tuesday night at Springfield, two attempts were made to burn down a grain store belonging to Mr Hugh Cassidv. The store, with its contents, was valued at about £600. Someone had used kerosene rags and dry gorse in an attempt to 6et fire to tho building. Yesterday Constable C. Dennet, who is in charge of the Darfield police station, arrested an elderly man named Charles Brown,- on a harge of having attempted to burn down the . store. Brown appeared at the Darfield Court yesterday before Mr Robert Reid, J.P., and was remanded until nest Friday, at 10 a.m.
