MISCELLANEOUS CABLES.
The 115,000 hands employed at Krupps during tho war are now reduced to 14,000. They are turning out steel and repairing rolling-stock. Tho workers declare that they will never allow the works to bo used again for war purposes. Italian demobilisation is proceeding rapidly. 900,000 men having been discharged. ' An explosion of a truck-load of benzine at the Athes railway station in Belgium killed six British soldiers and injured many British and French soldiers. Twenty Russian and German Bolshevists have been arrested at Lausanne. Others have been arrested at Geneva. Count Michael Karolyi has been elected Provisional President of the Hungarian Republic. Mr James cables from Coblenz to New York that the Prince of Wales attonded an American officers' dance. He favourably impressed the Americans by his democratic behaviour, and he took ,pot luck for the prettiest girls as dancing partners. When an American major took his partner from the Prince of Wales a minute before the music 6topped, tho Prince smiled and said. "Serves you right, sir." The Peking correspondent of tho "New York Times" states that the public burning of opium at Shanghai is arousing interest throughout the country. "The President approved of foreign supervision of the burning, because it was reported that opium chests had been rifled. The Shipping Board has released all American tonnage exclusive of the direct needs of the Army transport.
