(By Cable.—Press Association. —Copyright.) THE DRINK BILL. SYDNEY, January 17. The Government Statistician estimates that the drink bill last year totalled £7,218,000, being an increase of £351,000. The increase in expenditure is pot due to consumption, which was less than in former /ears, but to the increased prices. FEDERAL SENATE. HOBART, January 17. A joint sitting of both houses elected Mr E. Mulcahy to fill the vacancy in the Fedoraf Senate caused by the resignation of Senator Long. THE LATE MR F. FOY'S ESTATE. (Received January 17th, 10.45 p.m.) SYDNEY, January 17. The estate of the late Mr Francis Foy is valued at £149,003. His will provides for the sale of his racing stud. A WATCH FOR BOLSHEVISM. MELBOURNE, January 17. The Federal Government is carefully watching events savouring of Bolshevism. Action is contemplated to prevent the dissemination of propaganda and influences in any manner endangering the Commonwealth.
