SHORTAGE OF COAL.
ANXIETY WELLINGTON.
(press association telegbam.) _ WELLINGTON, January 17. The shortage of coal is becoming a source of anxiety. The supplies wiiicti are coming forward for the railways are far below the orders, and the railways have never been so short. lhe -Hon. A M Myers, .Minister of Supplies, said that the available coal would be distributed on a fair basis among essential industries, and all possible consideration would be given to the urgent needs of householders. He anticipated that a settlement of the shipping trouble m Australia would clear the way for the dispatch of sufficient supplies to relieve the situation.
