NEW ZEALAND CpUNCIL. A meeting of tße Council of the Now Zealand Amateur Swimming Association was held last nigfct. Bryant (Wanganui. m the chair), 1. C. Fontham (Westland), W. H. Benson (ptago), A. R. Brunaden (Auckland), O. Atkinson (Canterbury), and B. O'Neill (Wellingtop). Mr Benson Was formally welcomed to tlie Council aa the Otago delegate. / f An application from the Wttltham Jjaaies Swimming Cluß for affiliation was referred to the Affiliation Committee, and the chairman and lion, secretary (Mr O Ncill) were authorised to take further action in the On ihf motion of Mr O'Neill, it 'was decided that a letter bo sent to the Canterbury Centre, protesting against their latitude in forwarding the application. , "The following defunct clubs were struc* off the rollThorndon, Wairarapa. Masterton Y.M.0.A., Masterton Ladies', Carterton, Greytown, Lerin, and "Wellington College On motion of Mr O'Neill, it was decided to give authority to the president ana secretary of the . Council io the clubs should they apply and prove themselves eligible. . ~ The following notices of motion - were received at the ordinary meeting, and carried at a apcciaJ meeting immediately following "That clause (i) of rule 7 be repealed, and the following new clause substituted therefor (i) Amateur records The following distances only ehall be, recognised bjr the Council for New Zealand reoords: • 100 yds, -20yds, 4iUyds. SSOrde, 1820 yds. and one miie free style; 220 yds breaetrstroKo, ISOyds , caclistroKe; ladies' 100 yds fres. style. In addition, tho following Dominion records shall be iecognised:—Schoolboys: 100 yds and 410 yds; ecWgirla: 60yd«i and 100 yds: bovß intermediate: 100 yds, 220 yds, and 88°jds, girls' intermediate: 75yds and 100 yds, the classes in this clause to be as defined in tLo Dominion Cftampionalnps That the following new clause be added to rule 4 of the Association a diving rules : — '•(i) Immediately after the lust d:ve fcas been performed, tie referee shall collect tlie scoring card from each judge, and ahall examine flame, to see that these rules have been strictly complied with,, permitting, under no. circumstances, and P o ">ts to be reckoned in the aggregate that have been allotted in contravention of this rule. _ Tlw referee, or an officer other than a dmng judgeappointed by him for that purpose, shall then compute tho aggregate points, andannounco the docision. Should a tie occur, and a dive off be necessary, fresh scoring cards shall be issued to the diving judges and the nroeedure as laid down herein repeated. The referee shall take particular care to ensure that collaboration between the diving judges does not occur before the scorin? curds are collected, and that in this and other respects section (h) hereof is atnct.y enforced.
