CAPITAL AND LABOUR.
TO TUB EDITOR OF "THE TEESS.' Sir,—ln the nebulae, the conception of ideas before there is any deiinito shape or form of value must take place. The old as we have known it, tho uew now in the embryo, the deduction of theory to be put into practice, the difficulties to be overcome by soliinterest and greed, on one side of the question, and ignorance and distrust on tho other. Is there no way to peace between the two parties—capital and labour? At present under the old regime it appears almost hopeless, for the claims on one side there is no finality. \ aluo is still undefined, and until there is a satisfactory definition of value, the wages and labour problem will remain unsolvod. . . In the face of hard facts the inequalities, and want of truth, the balance is not equal. I How our brave soldiers have been paid stands out bold, lor the colonial men were paid their six shillings per day, tho Imperial 2s (kl to three shillings per day, and the Frenchmen and Italians much less. - So in the Allied Army wo see tho unequal v/age for the same kind or dangerous work. Theso men were r»ooa average men, and yet, they did not recoive ail equal wage for equal human energy, t'nergv, work, or labour has 110 unit .of value in our monetary system, at present, but it) must have a definite place in that system before there can bo permanent peace. Yours, etc., W ELT>.
