THE CABLE SERVICE.
CONGESTION AND FAULTS. (By Cable.—Press Association. —Copyright.) (AuitraJian and N.Z. Cable Awrociition.) SYDNEY. January 16. Bad as it was throughout the war, the cable congestion since the signing of the armistice has grown steadily worse, and the delivery more erratic. Both ronte3 are affected. The delay of from one to two days over one route has lengthened to a full week. Press messages are now being delivered seven days late, while occasional messages are a fortnight behind time. Primarily, the enormous quantity of official matter which takes precedence over all other matter is responsible, while line faults on the Eastern route are a contributing cause. The break between tile Far East and America is causing a large amount of business to be diverted via Australia, further adding to the already .oven&oked aervjcec.
