UNDER WHICH FLAG?

TO THE EDITOR 07 "THE PRESS." Sir,—l observe that Mr Alpers now Bpeaks of the "hall of memories" iu connexion with tho Soldiers' C'ub as "a chapcl." The soldiers, he says, "want to record in a sacrod edifice the names of the fallen." In another place he says it is to be a repository of "soldiers' diaries, plans, pictures, photographs." Is it intended that the building shall be consecrated and used lor worship? If not, is it not a little disingenious to speak of it as "a chapel"? If it is to be a chapel, can it be at the same time a war museum and a library? And can any reflective person agree that either a chapel or a "hall of inomorios" is a necessary adjunct to a social club? Is it not plain that the two things are absolutely incompatible ?—Yoursj, etc., _ COMMON-SENSE. January 16th.
