FERRY SERVICE.
MAORI DETAINED AT Wellington. Advice was received last evening that oivimr to a portage of firemen the Union Company's ferry steamer Maori could not leave Wellington for LyttelTlio Monowai will leave Lyttelton tonight for "Wellington. (PRESS association* telegram.) WELLINGTON, January 10. The ferry stoamer Maori did not sail for Lvttelton to-night. To-dav the vessel eleven firemea short. Men could have boon engaged at £2 per day, but tho Imion Company declined to pay that rate.
