HOME POLITICS.

THE NEW GOVERNMENT. PRESS COMMENTS. (By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.) (Australian and X.Z. C-ablo Association.) LONDON, January 11. The papers comment on the low surprises in the Cabinet selection. Some regiet that Mr Lloyd Georgo has not shown moro courage in going outside the routine names when filling some of tho most prominent offices, particularly that of First Lord of tho Admiralty. There aro hostile con: ueuts in several papers at Mr Churchill's appointment to tho War Ofßco, and doubts are oxprossed of Sir F. E. Smith's suitability lor the Lord Chancellorship. All approve of the appointment of Sir Snlvendra P. Sinha as Secretary of Stato. for India. Tho newspapers prodict an amalgamation of the Air Ministry and tho War Office, xinder Mr Churchill. This will revive the Admiralty antagonism, resulting in tho re-ostablishment of a separata naval air force. Tho newspapers recall that Sir F. E. Smith (Lord Chancellor) inado fiery prewar speeches favouring tho Ulstor rebellion, and regard this as proving his unfitness for the highest judicial post in the Empire. Tho ''Daily Telegraph" states that Sir Salyendra Prassano Sinha, Secretary for India, will be raised to tho peerage.
