Pennsylvania, to have mined the 1 world's record of coal. Mullins mined and ' loaded 691 tons of coal between August - 15th and September loth, for which his wages were 449d0l 100 (£93 -Is ljd). The American Government records show that Mullins's feat is unprecedented. Hi© Contest Committee of the Aero Club of America has awarded the alti- ! tude record of 28,900 ft (nearly oi miles> | » above sea-level to Captain Ruddy W. Schroeder. Tho flight was made on September 18th. at the Wilbur Wright Field, Fairfield, Ohio, in a Bristol fight- i ing plane, with a 300 h.p. Hispano . Suiza motor. The record made by Schroeder has been . recognised by the , United States Government.
