Maclay—Minister of Shipping. Mr R. S. Home —Minister of Labour. Et. Hon. Sir L. W. Evans —Minister of Pensions. Rt. Hon. Sir A. Mond —First Commissioner of Works. Sir E. M. "Weir—Minister of MunitiouS, to become Minister of Supply. He has been Surveyor-General of Supply on the Army Council. The Government proposes to establish a Ministry of "Ways and Communications, which, if adopted, Sir EricGeddes will control. Peerages have been conferred on tho Et. Hon. R. E. Prothero and Mr A. Woir. PRESS COMMENT. ("The Times.") i (Received January 13th. 7.20 p.m.) LONDON, January 11. "The Times," in a leader, states that tho new Cabinet is merely a re-shuffle. There aro many palpable misfits, and a pervading air of 6taleness. It is probably intended as a stop-gap during the peace conference, and pending tho launching of a reconstruction policy, but Mr Lloyd George has gravely shaken confidence in his power of choosing and placing men. The "Daily Mail," in a leader, says the old influence has been too strong for Mr Lloyd George. Many of the appointments are purely political. OPENING OF PARLIAMENT. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) January 9. The King will open Parliament on ' February 4tli. There will bo a resumption of tho old-time statoliness and splendour, which was abandoned in war. time. The Premier informed a deputation of railwayman that the question of nationalising the railways had been ■ held over for the present. HOLIDAY FOE FAEM WORKERS. A Government official asserts that Germany is preparing an industrial invasion of England by the use of many ; shops, which are now being rented by neutrals.
