DIRECTOR OF MEDICAL SERVICES.
COLONEL BEGG APPOINTED
A Press Association telegram from Wellington states that Colonel C. M. Begg succeeds Surgeon-General Henderson, who is returning to England, as Director-Goneral of Medical Services to the New Zealand Forces. Colonei Begg, who has been on active service since 1914, returns to New Zoaland as soon as possible. Colonel Begg is a well-known Wellington doctor. He is a member of the Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh, a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh, and a Licentiate of the Faculty of Physicians and Surgeons, Glasgow. He graduated as a Bachelor of Surgery and a Doctor of Medicine at Edinburgh University. He was a lieutenant-colonel in the New Zealand Medical Corps when the war broke out, holding the appointment of Principal Medical Officer for the Wellington military district. He left with the Main Body of the New ZeaExpeditionary Force. For some time he was Assistant-Director of Medical Services to tho New Zealand Division, and was afterwards Deputy-Director of Medical Services to the 2nd Xnzac Division. He was mentioned, in dispatches in November, 1915, January, 1917, and December, 1917. Colonel Begg is a Companion of the Order of the Bath and a Companion of the Order of St. Michael and St. George.
