RETURNED SOLDIERS. * (By Cable.—Press Association. —Copyright) MELBOURNE, January Sf. Replying, to a deputation of returned soldiers, the Hon. E. D. Miilen, Minister of Repatriation, stated that out of 70,000 men returned and discharged, only 3 per cent, are unemployed. RAILWAY POLICY. ADELAIDE, January 9. The report of the visiting railway expert the policy of short time in the Government workships. He says the tendency under those conditions is to slow down tho rate of production and increase the post of worn. He recommends the adoption ot the card system used in New South Wales. Unrest prevails in the northern collieries where the Miners' I 5 pressing for an advance of 2o per cent, onpresent rates, which the owners are disinclined to concede.
