A few hundred soldiers marched to the "War Office, and demonstrated against the delay in demobilisation, but the matter was arranged on the same terms as at Folkstone. In spite of a general's advice, disaffected Boldiers at Shoreham to-day insisted on telegraphing to the Premier demanding to be sent home pending the, completion of demobilisation formalities. One hundred members of the Bedfordshire Regiment, at Bristol, marched to the Town Hall and requested the Mayor to assist in hastening demobilisation. | THE GUIDING PRINCIPLE. | (Australian and N. 2. Cable ■ (Renter's Telegrams.) (Received January Bth, 8.10 p.m.) LONDON, January 7. Demobilisatoin is now proceeding mora smoothly. Ten thousand men were demobilised daily last week, and it is expected that the figures will soon becom© twenty thousand. The Premier is interviewing the authorities personally with a view to evolving a simple procedure. The guiding principle at present is the needs of industry, not length of service. Troops employed at the Essex aerodrome interviewed their colonel, who allowed them one day's leave, adding that those able to secure work would bo demobilised forthwith. Six hundred men at the Kempton Park Army Service Depot proceeded to the Whitehall, and a deputation visited the War Office.
