MAGISTRATE'S COURT. At the liytteltom Magistrate's Court yesterday morning, before Mr L. A. Stringer, J.P., Harry Owen Powell appeared on a charge of using threatening behaviour towftrds his stepfather. A fine of find costs was imposed. A first offender was convicted of drunkenness and fined se. A NARROW ESCAPE. Mis S. E. Newberry, who resides in Csshel street, Christchurch, narrowly eecaped a serious accident at Lyttelton yesterday morning. Whilst walking over the railway crossing a few yards in front of an engine which was shunting some trucks, she became so alarmed by tie shrill warning whistle of th<? engine that she fainted, luckily falling clear of the line. Mrs Newberry was conveyed by two constables to the waiting room at the railway station, and from thenoa to the casualty ward,- where medical attention waa given by Dr. Newell. .
