TO THE EDITOR 0* "XHB rEIIS." Sir, —Is there a wont of oversight or of objective jp this Department? Hu? Oxford branch of the Navy League proposed having a public social on Year's night to celebrate "the surrender of the German Fleet,"; but was prohibited by order of the District Health Officer, who would not allow public dancing. Notwithstanding this t a public danco was held in Oxford that evening, and promoted by a private company. I also notice in "The Press" ol to-day the report of a public danco being held in the Dunsandel Hall, and another in tho Halswell Hall on the same night. : "Were these latter held tinder permit, or were they heldl in defiance of tho Public Health embargo? Or why was the first prohibited and the last allowed P —Yours, etc.. OXFORD, January 6th.
