A Gorman wireless message announces that the German Government is about to tako military measures to stem the Bolshevist advance on Warsaw. Messages state that M. Paderewski was engaged in speech-making for twenty hours. He was enthusiastically cheered by Polish crowds waiting outside his hotol. M. Paderowski emphasised the necessity of stamping out Bolshevism. He defined its aims as to "kill all Usoro of the tooth brush." Other messages report that the Bolshpvists, aided by Germdn s and Ukrainians, are besieging Lemberg. The Poles are gallantly defending the towttj but have a limited food supply and poof dofences. The great disorder at Posen threatens the German communications. Speaking at Warsaw. M. Paderewski said tho Allies must assist Poland to destroy Bolshevism, lest the whole of Europe be swamped thereby. Poland was readv to form a\barrier against the tide if given arms and technical officers. A SPLIT THREATENED. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) BERLIN, January 6. The Poles, who have occupied positions near Bentschen, delivered an ultimatum to the German commander, demanding surrender. The Germans decided to defend the positions in order to prevent the invasion of Brandenburg. M. Paderewski and General Pilsudski, conferred, but were unable to agree as to the exercise of authority in Poland. A split is threatened.
