CADET TRAINING.
THE NEW SYLLABUS. frnKsa ASsOfttAtrON TEI.EGRAM.) WELLINGTON, January 7. A now syl'abu3 of training for Senior Cadets will bo issued shortly, containing important alterations. Tho largo number of rejections front the Expeditionary Force on account of physical unfitness has directed the attention of thoso concerned to the importance of efficient physical training for the youth of the Dominion. As a consequence the new syllabus will aim at producing in tho first two years of Cadet service physically fit youths—in other* words, the purely military side of tho training will be subordinated to the other. In addition, greater attention is to bo paid in educating the youths as to the'r dntiea of citiaenshin, and os future possible defenders of New Zealand. In order to ensure that the syllabus will be carried out in an efficient manner, a special class for physical instruction will be inaugurated at Trentham to-morrow, and will be attended by secondary schoolmasters. Cadet and Territorial officers, and staff sergeant-majors. The course, which will extend over threo weeks, will bo conducted under the supervision of Captain Brocks. M.C., of the Army Gymnastic Staff, who was chief instructor in physical training and bayonet fighting in tho Reinforcement/ camos.
