RISING AGAINST GERMANY. POSEN OCCUPIED. (By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.) (Renter's Telegrams.) COPENHAGEN, January 3. Posen is completely in the hands of the Poles. All official money has been confiscated by the Poles, whose colours fly everywhere. Bakers refuse to sell bread to the Germans. SHARP FIGHTING. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) COPENHAGEN, January 4. The Posen correspondent of the "National Tidende" states that the situation is growing worse on the German frontier. Troops are fighting the Poles at various points, driving them back by artillery. NEGOTIATIONS BEAR FRUIT. (Australian and N.Z. Association.) ■ (Received Janurfry 6th. 7.10 p.m.) COPENHAGEN, January 5. The "Berliner Zeitung" reports that a meeting of representatives of the towns of Posen, Hohensalza, and Broomberg, with tho Poles, reached an agreement, and all hostilities betweenthe Poles and Germans immediately stopped. The Poles hold all the distriots already occupied, but will not advance further. POGROMS AGAINST JEWS. LONDON, January 3. .The Anglo-Jewish Association has published a report showing that the recent pogroms in Poland wore the result of a proclamation declaring that Jewish gold was financing the Polish Social Democrats, and that the Jewish League was organising Bolshevism. General Witoldoiski, the commander-in-chief, issued an order for th© arrest of Jew hostages, who would be shot if Bolshevist outrages occurred. Pogroms followed in many other cities. INVADERS ADVANCING.
