NORTH BRIGHTON GALA.

At a meeting of residents of North New Brighton, hold on Saturday, Mr E. A, Leaver presiding, it was codded to hold the North Beach Gala on Saturday, January 25th. Tho following officers were elected:—Patron, Hon. G. W. Russell; vice-pations, Hon. T. M. "Wilford, Messrs J?. Kibbuewhiic, W. f'. M. Buckley, H. Holland, A. Boyle, F. W. Kesteven, B. B. Wood, and W. J. "Walter; president, the Mayor (Mr F. Kibbleivhiie); vice-presidents, Messrs W. H. Winsor, F. W. Fi-eeman, W. E. Thompson, R. Thompson, H. Cutts, Allan Hopkins, and Dr. Stevens; chairman, Mr Leaver; vice-chairman, Mr W. A. Smith; secretary pro tem., Mr P. Kirby; treasurer, Mr A. R. Blank; auditors, Messrs F. Parsons and J. A. B. Cookson; committee, Messrs Kershaw, Leckie, Inglis, Cumming, Marriott, Parsons, McGillivray, McCracken, Johanßen, Goodman, Graham, Cooper, Bundle, Tniscott, Dalton, Bailey, Gordon, Hutton, Blank, Stringer, Kirby, Leaver, Strahan, and Mesdames McGillivray, McCracken, Truaoott, Leaver, Marriott, and Mies Leaver. | It was decided to giv© two-thirds of tho proceeds towards _ the North Beach Peaoe Metnorial, to consist of a band rotunda and shelter shed, for visitors, and one-third to the Surf Club. A number of sub-committees were set up. Messrs Johansen, Leckie, Dalton, and Blank gave donations of 21s each, and Mr Bundle promised a trophy. The following resolution _woa carried unanimously :—"That this meeting of the general committee of the North Beach GaJa learns with regret of the Mayor's indisposition. It is fresh in the memory of all present how he attended our meetings, and gave Us ready assistance and advice, and while regretting his inability to be with us at all our meetings, we trust that when the gala is held he will be with us in considerably improved health."
