It would be interesting to discover (says a London paper) who is the loneliest Briton in the world to-day. Tho claims of Mr Ernest Bavies, a member of the Overseas Club and Patriotic league, would perhaps be hard to beat. u av ' es l' ve s on an island belonging to the Paumotus Archipelago (a French possession), just north of the Tropic of Capricorn, in tho Mid-Pacific Ocean, many thousands of miles from tho Australian continent. There are only three other white men on the island, wluch is 40 miles long and 20 broad, and these three are Frenchmen.
