Parents who value the health of their children are distressed at th& enormous increase of cigarette smoking among boys of 12 and 14 years of ago. Tne war has brought a consiuerable increase in cigarette smoking amongst men in tiie Army, and tms has probably caused the growth of the hauit among .schoolboys. Some parents liave severely punished their ooys for smoking, but this- has had no ottect in the majority of cases. Pocketmoney has been withheld from them, but that dees not seem to make any difference. He claims that after a boy has tackled one of nis special brand he loses his love for tol/iicocr/' Unhappily, the juvenile smoker has also adopted the habit of inhaling the smoke, which has a very serious 'effect on the heart and lungs.
