A MYSTERIOUS AFFAIR. (By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.) (Received January 2nd, 10.55 p.m). SYDNEY, January 2. Another prison sonsation is reported. During the night four German internees, named Siemen, Carre, Sliallock, and Reiser, escaped from the detention barracks at the old Darlinghurst Gaol. They improvised rope blankets, scaled high walk, and got clear away. The mysterious part of the affair is that the doors of their separate empty cells were found securoly locked and barred, aa also was another door through which they had made their exit. Three of the escapees were prominent athletes. Carre has made previous escapes from detention tomps. Later. It is reported that Reiser was captured in the city in the afternoon.
